English as the Official Language of the US

So. Here is my next daily pet peeve. Why can't we all recognize that the US is an English speaking country? It has been that way for over 200 years. Now all of a sudden, 2nd languages are taught in our schools. Those never ending phone menus for virtually all call centers ask you to press 1 for English or 2 for Spanish. How do we expect anyone to integrate into our society if we continue to embrace this multi-cultural bullshit.

Now I'm all for immigrants maintaining their traditions but look what happened when the Polish, Irish, Italian etc. immigrants arrived here. Within a generation they became a part of our society and were an asset instead of a liability. Now we have to pay for illegal immigrant health care, schooling and myriad other social services and they still remain a separate element of our society.

Let's get real here. The Feds need to pass a resolution calling for English as the official language of the country and state and local governments and school districts need to wise up and dump the 2nd language support. Its a money saver and will help lower out taxes. As for all the businesses, well they'll continue along their current path. That's to be expected since they are in business to make a profit. But if enough of us move in this direction, they'll get the message as well.
